Every application received before February 1 will be considered for a tuition award that ranges from smaller amounts to approximately 60-70% of the tuition. Some of these awards are made by the Department of Philosophy, while other awards are given by the Columbian College of Arts and Sciences. An overview of tuition costs can be found here: https://studentaccounts.gwu.edu/graduate-tuition. The MA in Philosophy is 30 credits, and the MA in Public Policy with a concentration in Philosophy and Social Policy is typically 36 credits.
The department also has some need for graduate assistants, who receive a per semester salary and provide limited grading/instructional support for undergraduate philosophy classes. For most classes, the salary is $3250 per term. Priority is given to applicants with background in philosophy and a strong undergraduate GPA.
